Wool to Weave
In this series of workshops we explore the process of processing a wool fleece to spinning yarn and finally to weave with the yarn spun.
You can choose to participate in all of the series or individual sessions
Cost for all three sessions includes workshop and all materials $325

Session 1 Wool Fleece
Sunday, April 19, 2026 10:00 am - 4:00 pm Cost: $110 for individual class
Materials included: freshly shorn fleece, soap, mordant and synthetic dyes
​
We will skirt a freshly shorn wool fleece, wash the fiber and dye the fleece
and commercial yarn for the next session for final weaving project
​

Session 2 Carding and Spinning the fleece
Sunday, May 3, 2026 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Cost: $145 for individual class
Materials and equipment included: wool fiber, carding tools, drop spindle (to keep) and use of
spinning wheel during workshop
Learn the creativity and relaxation of spinning your own yarn using hand cards and drum carder to initially prepare the fiber. Then use a drop spindle and spinning wheel from the carded fiber​
exploring the process of spinning wool into yarn. Beginning in slow motion with simple drop spindle working up to using a spinning wheel. Your first yarn will likely be lumpy and bumpy and curly and beautiful.

If you have your own working spinning wheel, please talk to instructor prior to first day of workshop.

Session 3 Rigid Heddle Weaving
Sunday, May 17, 2026 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Cost: $145 for individual class
Materials and equipment included: wool yarn and your handspun yarn, use of rigid heddle
during workshop.
​
We will use commercial yarn, your handspun yarn and dyed fleece to weave a wall hanging
or table runner. You will learn to set up and weave on a rigid heddle loom.

Spin Your Yarn
(Drop Spindle & Spinning Wheel)- Introduction
This workshop will introduce you to the art of twisting wool fiber into yarn using a spinning wheel.

Cost: $120 includes wool fiber, use of drop spindle and spinning wheel during class time​
Learn the creativity and relaxation of spinning your own yarn using a drop spindle and spinning wheel.
​
We will explore the process of spinning wool into yarn beginning in slow motion with simple tools working up to using a spinning wheel. You will discuss fiber preparation. Your first yarn will likely be lumpy and bumpy and curly and beautiful. Bring your own drop spindle or make the selection to purchase a drop spindle that will be ready for you on the first day of the workshop.
Spinning wheels and fiber will be provided for use in workshop.

Spinning Wheel Consultation

3 hrs consultation, time can be divided into 2 sessions
after you sign up, you will be contacted to set up a time to meet.​
​
This is for folks that either are currently using a spinning wheel and having problems or
maybe it's been a long time since you've spun and need a brush up.
Bring your wheel to the studio and we will get you back on the spinning road again.
