Paint Your Yarn       

PYY3 Saturday November 26  1:00—3:00                

(Workshop size min 6 )

           Instructor: Nancy Wilson

           Cost: $30  + $15 Material Fee

        (you may choose to dye up to 3 skeins of yarn for the addtional materials fee)

 

Beginners encouraged and welcome

You will need: OLD clothes that can get dirty and dish washing gloves

                

Take home a beautifully dyed skein of yarn.

In this workshop you will paint the yarn you choose with premixed dyes meant especially for dyeing protein fibers such as wool, silk and alpaca.

The yarn you choose to dye will be pre mordanted and ready for you to start painting.

 

Use your creation from Lost Art Workshops:

                                 Knit Your Scarf

 

                                 Just Weave

             

             or on a project of your choice.

Paint Your Wool

In this workshop you will paint the fiber you choose with premixed dyes meant especially for dyeing protein fibers such as wool, silk, mohair and alpaca

The fiber you choose to dye will be pre mordanted and ready for you to start painting.

Choose washed fleece or roving when registering 

Select  1-3 selection to paint in the 2 hour class time.

Paint Your Yarn Blank  

PYB1 Sunday October 23 1:00—4:00                

(Class size min 6 and max. 10)

           Instructor: Susan Forbes, The Fairy Yarnmother

           Class Cost: $45  + $16 Material Fee

You will need: OLD clothes that can get dirty and dish washing gloves

                

Love to knit? How about knitting with hand painted yarns? Take your knitting passion to the next level by learning to dye your own unique yarn. Susan will take you through the proper fiber prep, the safe handling of dyes and instruct you on how to set the fabri to get the most color from the dye. You will learn how the placement of color and types of application will affect the overall design of the yarn and fabric knit from it.

A yarn blank is made from 2 strands of yarn that will create 2 separate skeins of yarn that are identically dyed. At the end of class you will have your own hand painted blank. Come join us where your creativity is only limited by your willingness to get your hands dirty. The material fee includes a 3.5 oz. sock yarn blank and dyes.
